  Went in got surgery on my hip. Was there at 5am, my procedure started at 7am. Walked in and was greeted by the lady behind the desk. She gave us a buzz and said it would go off when they were ready for us. Didn't take long for me to be taken into the back, they allowed my mother to go back with me. The nurses were all extremely friendly and helped to calm my nerves. A male nurse came by to put an IV in, my veins are small, so it took him more than one try. Not too big a deal, I'm use to it. The doctor came out and spoke with me, double checking to make sure I didn't have any last minute questions and see how I was doing. They wheeled me into surgery, next thing I know I'm waking up and the procedure is finished. All the staff and people I met there were all extremely friendly, patient and kind. I would definitely recommend Duke to people. Well trained staff, all kind and understanding, overall fantastic.

  I came in due to what felt like lock jaw from a wisdom tooth extraction, so as you can imagine it was EXTREMELY painful. I was in the e.r. for about 6 hours, but my mom has worked in hospitals all my life and that is totally to be expected. Turns out I had an infection so they immediately took me into a room. I was told to stay over night where my pain became excruciating. I had Sydney and hanane, and without a doubt these are the best nurses I have ever come across. In the highest peak of my pain i was needy and crying and screaming and my pain and fever continued to skyrocket and these women were on top of it with so much compassion and patience for my needs. Not to mention sydney had her own bun in the oven and truly showed over the top commitment and care to my struggles aside from her own. My standards are pretty high so when it came to night time I was really skeptical that there was no way the nurses would be as good as the ones I just had. I was totally wrong. Kandace and Cynthia eased my worries to the fullest. Cynthia routinely stopped in and Kandace was so punctual and on time for everything I needed done. Firm, yet understanding I felt like my health was deeply rooted. That they were determined to make me feel better. Not once did I ever have to call and ask for pain meds, Kandace was consistent and Cynthia was right behind tending to personal needs. These women I've mentioned are without a doubt the best I've ever encountered. I couldn't have asked for such better care in a time where I needed it most. Even when my pain got to me and my temperament was out of control these ladies did whatever they could to get me back on track and make me comfortable. Thank you duke for hiring these women, they have the intellect and brainpower it takes to be in healthcare and i couldn't have asked for more.
